It’s not every day that the Indian movie industry comes up with an unhinged R-rated brawler, let alone from Dharma Productions, a studio known for romantic and family-oriented movies. With Kill (2024), they have shifted gears and how.
In collaboration with Lionsgate, this movie is at the top as one of the goriest, unfiltered blood fest.
Bus is this all action no substance, or is there more to it than what the trailer let by?
This is my review of Dharma Production and Laskshya starrer Kill, India’s bloodied and goriest movie ever.
Table of Contents
Story
The movie is set on a train travelling to Delhi from an engagement event, with a love story being the premise.
The train is attacked by dacoits and follows the mayhem that ensues.
It is 2 hours of gripping events one after the other which keeps everyone on the edge of their seats. The best thing is the love story never distracts you from the action. The flashback shown to highlight the love the couple shares connects you with them as a couple which helps in having an emotional investment.
There is not a single moment to rest as the action and violence take over the closed compartment of the train. Few moments really tense you up since you can never tell what is going to happen next, and the fast action keeps your heart racing, from one scene to another.
Characters/Acting
The movie is mainly led by the hero Amrit played by Lakshya and the villain Fani played by Raghav Junyal. Tanya Maniktala as Tulika plays the female lead and does justice to her role, and so do Harsh Chhaya and Ashish Vidyarthi.
Every character is well created and cast with everyone doing justice to their roles. The desperation on the faces of both the good guys and bad guys is very well portrayed. Each actor both new and old captured the essence of their roles beautifully.
Special mention to Raghav Junyal who portrays the menacing unhinged jerk to the T. His actions cause the whole mess, and you would hate him for his attitude, and behaviour.
Laskhya as an NSG commando in love acts his part beautifully. His presence, anger and action are all towering and his screen presence is amazing. His desperation and helplessness were beautifully captured on camera.
Both Lakshya and Raghav have a bright future if they can continue bagging some good roles. Both of them are a great find.
Action
This movie is an out-and-out action movie, the close-quarter combat in the confines of the train is a heart-pumping, and gut-wrenching unhinged blood fest.
The movie has some quite tense moments where the hope seems lost as the goons overpower the hero, but there is a comeback that seems real, not gimmicky.
The two characters who take the stand are NSG commandos so it makes their characters believable in terms of combat expertise.
Not all deaths are predictable, and brutality shown has never been captured on Indian screens ever before.
Actions is 10 on 10 in this one.
Verdict
The movie did not have one dull moment. It is a must-watch for any action buff. I would encourage anyone who can stomach some gore to watch this movie. The action, the acting and the background score everything is perfect, and my verdict is a 10/10.
This movie deserves all the accolades it is receiving, and I hope it does well at the Indian as well as world box office.
